Current Projects - Guidelines for Web-based Distance Learning Instruction:
Meredith Ault reported on her findings on guidelines for providing instruction to distance students. The committee discussed how these guidelines could be organized such as by technology used, context or subject matter, or by theoretical base. The committee approved the findings and discussed having them put on the web.

Assessment Guideline/Models – Preliminary Review:
Pat Mahoney reported on his findings on the design or use of assessment models for the delivery of library services or library instruction to distance students. The committee reviewed promising articles with the better candidates selected. Pat will assemble a list of best practices from this list of articles. He will send to the committee his criteria of successful assessment models in use to the committee via e-mail.

After the discussions of the two projects the committee discussed ways to contact other sections and committees within ACRL to see if similar reviews have been undertaken concerning guidelines or best practices for services to distance students. Michele Behr volunteered to see if the Instruction section of ACRL has worked on similar guidelines.

Maryhelen Jones stopped by the committee table to have the committee members check the current roster of Instruction committee members and next years’ members.
