Copyright

Copyright is a legal right of ownership attached to an original work. A copyright owner has the exclusive right to -- and the right to authorize others to-- reproduce, adapt, distribute, publicly perform and publicly display a work. An original work need not be registered with the US Copyright office to be protected under the US Copyright law.
