Timeliness

Credible sources, including web sites, will feature a copyright date!

  • For books, check for the publication date on the title page.
  • For articles and web sites, check the beginning or end of the work.
  • When a date is not obvious, navigate back to a web site's main page.

Look closely. A 'last updated' notice on a web page does not necessarily mean the entire site is up-to-date. To get a sense for when information was collected, look at the dates in the source's bibliography, if it has one.
