Objectivity & Bias

Objectivity means the information is presented impartially with an absence of bias. Sources are rarely 100% objective.

FOUR CLUES
1.
What kind of language is used? Is it general in tone or full of emotion?
2.
For non-opinion pieces: Is there one overriding point of view being promoted?
3.
Have any facts or perspectives been left out of the work either intentionally or not?
4.
Is there a political agenda being espoused? A strong opinion on a social issue? Any detection of advertising?

To get a sense of a journal's point of view or bias, look at the names of the authors contributing pieces along with their backgrounds.
