Discussion Group

Charge

The DLS Discussion Group selects topic(s) for and leads the discussion Group meetings at annual and midwinter conferences. The Discussion Group's goals are to inform attendees and promote the sharing of expertise and ideas.

Process and Procedure:

The Discussion Group Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary are responsible for all planning activities for the DLS Discussion Group meetings at ALA Annual and Midwinter conferences. This includes selection of topic or topics and optional preparation and delivery of a brief kick-off presentation to provide background information and initiate and inspire discussion of the presentation topic(s). An outside resource person or persons may be invited to make the keynote presentation. Email and Web announcements will be sent out in the weeks preceding each Discussion Group meeting providing the date, time, place, topic(s), and the presenter(s), when utilized. The committee will work with the DLS Research, Web, Communications, and Liaison committees in planning topics and to publicize the Discussion Group meetings.
