To be responsible for all planning activities for a DLS formal social. This includes identifying a venue, working with ACRL/ALA to negotiate a contract, and arranging for the collection of payments from those attending the formal social. In addition, the committee will be responsible for planning informal socials for DLS at conference where no formal social is planned. To promote membership and encourage active participation in this section; to welcome and orient new members; to provide social activities; and to serve as a link between this section and ALA/ACRL membership services. The committee will work with Communications, Web, and Liaison Committees to publicize the social events.
