Meeting Minutes 20 January 2002

A. Current list of committee members
- Review of committee listing
on DLS website; is information correct?

B. Discussion of committee charge
- At ALA Annual in San Francisco,
the committee discussed and drafted a revision of the committee charge.
We reviewed the charge and decided the new, proposed charge should read:
"Investigate new electronic resources and technologies relevant to distance
learning library services and communicate information on them to members
of the Distance Learning Section through the Section Web site; to collaborate
with the LITA Distance Learning Interest Group and other ALA/ACRL units
in forums and activities pertaining to electronic resources and services
for distance learners."
- The entire committee will
have time to comment on this draft before presenting to the DLS Executive
committee.
C. Review of Resources
- Members should submit updates/revisions
to Becky Sedam, Webmaster for the DLS. Becky's email address is rsedam@wpo.it.luc.edu
- Becky prefers documents
be submitted in code, Word (disable the HTML feature) or plain text.
- Andy brought his revisions
for the Digitization of Library Materials page to the meeting. Dianna
McKellar sent her content to Erin in December.
D. Next steps
- Establishing a procedure
for regular revision of the Resources web pages is needed. We will continue
discussion as to what that procedure should be.
- If committee members attending
the Off-Campus Library Services conference would like to meet, we can
schedule a brief meeting for Cincinnati.
