ACRL Distance Learning Section Guidelines Committee Meeting Minutes 20

I. Roll call, roster and
directory changes, approve committee charge
The committee charge changes were approved and all members present checked
for roster and directory changes.
II. Approve minutes from
annual and virtual meeting.
The minutes from ALA Annual and virtual meeting were approved
III. Old business
A. Current dissemination
report
Frederiksen distributed dissemination report copies to members. A discussion
of the report and the procedures for updating the report followed. Cardinal
volunteered to compile the responses to the call for cites. The completed
report will be reviewed at ALA Annual in Atlanta.
IV. New business
A. Review new introductory
material
Members discussed the charge for the committee to develop a new introduction
for the guidelines. It was decided that the committee should look at using
language that is more broadly understood outside the profession. The group
will take Gover's paper (copies distributed at the meeting) home to review.
Frederiksen will convene a virtual meeting to discuss the proposed changes
to the introduction. Gover will take suggestions and draft a new introduction
that will be reviewed at ALA Annual.
B. Next guidelines revision
The guidelines are not due for a major revision at this time. The committee
will discuss again at ALA Annual.
C. Web form for reporting
dissemination activities
Frederiksen will look into the feasibility of linking a web-based form
from the ACRL and DLS websites. She will ask the Web Committee about putting
together a submission form for people wanting to submit cites for inclusion
in the dissemination report. The committee discussed a variety of ways
to better market the dissemination report so it gets more use. It was
also suggested that the committee solicit cites from people other than
librarians. Cardinal volunteered to investigate other, non-librarian listservs
that might be interested in the dissemination report.
D. Assessment discussion
