ACRL Distance Learning Section Web Committee Meeting Minutes 22 June 2003

Present: Jack Fritts (chair), Beth Reiten and Rebecca Sedam.

Absent: Kate Adams, Marissa Cachero, Nicole Campbell, Billie Peterson and Monique Threatt.

Budgetary problems and the threat of SARS kept many members from attending ALA Annual in Toronto. Due to this, the meetings that were held were necessarily truncated.

Review of Minutes from meeting on January 26, 2003: Minutes were not approved, due to large number of missing members. Review pushed forward until Midwinter 2004.

Liaison Activities: The members present met with the groups on their side of the room to discuss what the Web committee could do for them, to determine whether their rosters were correct and to collect minutes to post on the Web site.
Reports from the Committees:

• Instruction: Beth met with this group. They are working on a survey of members that they wish to have linked from the site, and will contact Beth when it is ready to go.
  
• Guidelines: Jack met with this group.
  
• Electronic Resources: Beth met with this person.
  
• Liaison: Not present.
  
• Program Planning 2004: Becky met with this group.
  
• Research: Not present.
  
• Statistics: Becky met with this group.
  
• Strategic Planning: Beth met with this group.
  
• Membership: Not present.
  
• Communications: Becky met with this group.

Discussion:
Becky brought up the idea of an area within the website where older versions of web documents could be saved. All agreed it was a good idea, and conversation continued about the forms this could take. Beth and Becky agreed to work on it after conference.

Continued discussion about a possible reorganization/redesign of the section website came out of the previous topic, and will also be continued after the conference.
