What is a Database?

A database is an organized collection of RECORDS you search to pull information when it's needed.

It's a lot like a filing cabinet except databases now come online or in electronic format, which means they:

  • hold large amounts of information
  • offer flexible and fast searching
  • are easily updated with new information

Databases are actually JUST as current as the Web because new information is being added on a regular basis (i.e., daily, weekly, monthly).
