JavaScript is a scripting language which allows Web authors to design interactive Web sites. Most of today's Web pages require JavaScript in order to function properly. In the case of the SWITCH tutorials, if you use Internet Explorer as your web browser, you need to enable JavaScript and enable to the "Allow Web Sites to Prompt for Information using Scripted Windows" setting in order for the quizzes to work properly. Follow the directions below.
Internet Explorer 6 or 7
- Open the “Tools” menu from the top main menu.
- Select “Internet Options," to open the Internet Options dialog box.
- Click the “Security” tab.
- Click the “Internet” symbol (a globe).
- Click the “Custom Level" button, to open the Security Settings dialog box.
- In the Settings list, scroll down to “Scripting”.
- Under Active Scripting, click “Enable”, so that a dot appears next to it. (This enables JavaScript).
- Under Allow Web Sites to Prompt for Information using Scripted
Windows,
click "Enable." (This is needed for the SWITCH Information Literacy
tutorial quizzes.).

- Click “OK” to close the Security Settings dialog box.
- Click “Yes” in the Warning! message box.
- Click “OK” to close the Internet Options dialog box.
