Connectors (Boolean Operators)

Connectors (or Boolean operators) are used in keyword searching to link together two or more terms. The most common connectors are AND and OR.

AND
AND operator

The AND operator narrows your search results by requiring that EACH TERM appear in each retrieved record.

In this example, the database or search engine will ONLY retrieve records that have the terms marketing, women and techniques.

OR

OR operator

You can also use the OR operator in a keyword search to broaden your search results.

In this example, retrieved records will have EITHER the term marketing or the term advertising.
