be protected under the U.S. Copyright law, a work must be original
and fixed in a tangible form of expression.
It does not, however, have to be registered
with the US Copyright Office, and it can include anything published
OR unpublished. There are several broad categories for works
that can be copyrighted:

Works without a copyright notice may still be protected
